Six years ago today, President Boy George Bush first choked when the United States of America was attacked. He sat stunned in an elementary school classroom as Americans died, and as more aircraft flew into their targets. Following that, he ran away, just as he did when he was under oath to serve his country during Vietnam. He boarded Air Force One and flew away from the danger, eventually landing in Louisiana (a state which Bush eventually would betray in its hour of need).
Since that time, he has failed in every major effort to bring those behind the attacks to justice. His incompetence, selfishness and greed has allowed our enemies to mock us while safely in hiding.
Boy George Bush has wasted the cream of our military in a corrupt, ill-advised and senseless war in Iraq. The only ones who have benefited from the conflict are the new Iraqi leaders who are lining their pockets with the profits of graft and Boy George’s war profiteer buddies. Perhaps the only failure Boy George’s people will admit to or causes them concern is that it is more than four years after the folly began, and the oil barons have yet to get their hands on the oil.
The Republican congress gave Boy George and his henchmen a free hand. Now, the Congress is in the hands of the Democrats. While Democrats do not have the votes to override presidential vetoes, their lack of spine to stand up to Boy George and his henchmen is more than a disappointment. It is a betrayal. Part of the problem is that the lies from the GOP right and the felons, liars, perverts and drug abusers of right-wing talk radio still are a major weapon in the arsenal of Boy George’s war on government and the rights of the American people.
Of course, one reason that Osama bin Laden still can taunt us is the failure not only of Boy George Bush, but his cabal of right-wing followers who give him a blank check. Unfortunately, that check only goes to war profiteers here and abroad. That money was not sent to Afghanistan to beef up the hunt for bin Laden. It was poured into Iraq for no good reason and the reasons given were lies. As Boy George’s buddies and the new corrupt government of Iraq shoveled our tax dollars into their pockets, bin Laden has been free as a bird and crapping on us from his perch. Boy George does not even have enough character to be embarrassed or even annoyed at this. He has said he doesn’t even think on it. Bush has said he doesn’t really care.
The lying standard bearers of the far right have begun to join the other 75 percent of the country and abandon the president. However, they are not abandoning their true masters - the neocons and war profiteers. They fault the president, but defend the war.
“Boy, Bush sure screwed this thing up badly, even worse than Katrina,” they say. “However, it was the right thing to do.
“Plus, we have to stay in Iraq until a government is established and we have defeated al Qaeda in Iraq.”
Of course, they neglect to mention there was no al Qaeda in Iraq prior to the phony war on Iraq. While Saddam Hussein was a horrid leader and brutal dictator, people were not dying by the hundreds daily in random, secular or simply criminal killings. Iraqis also had power, water and sanitation.
In the meantime, the proponents of the war and their blind, loyal followers continue to wave the flags, bang the drums, beat their chests and rattle their sabers about Iran without a thought.
Boy George’s followers ignore that terror networks have spread, much with the aid the Bush administration policies. While Americans have lost basic rights and protections, bin Laden is free and active. Since Boy George took his eye off the ball and let bin Laden go free, we have been exporting Americans over there so the terrorists don’t have to come here to kill us. We also coddle Pakistan as it grants safe haven to al Qaeda operatives.
If the world is safer and the so-called “War on Terror” is working, why is it that bin Laden can taunt us with a new tape on this anniversary?
