John EdwardsI voted for John Edwards.

Because so many Clinton/Obama supporters can only see red instead of reason, I will explain why it was not a wasted vote. Someone has to be the adult.

For one thing, with the Democratic Party’s broken primary system, I could have split my votes. Vote my two-thirds at the polls and the other third at the precinct convention. I almost did that, but could not even figure out which one should get the two-thirds.

My Edwards vote was a statement.

At this point, I cannot sign on to either campaign. Rather than sit it out, I thought I would be one of those who went to the polls and said “I still am out here, and I don’t like what I’m seeing”. Once there is a candidate, I will go full bore for whoever it is.

But this cat fighting that is going on is playing into the hands of the GOP.

I am focusing on the war and not the battle. I want the Democrats to have a majority large enough for them to do something, and not have their hands tied by Bushbots in Congress. Democrats need to do more than hold their own on the hill. Here in Texas, we need to make certain Rick Noriega is elected to replace Bushbot John Cornyn in the senate. I want Ken Leach to replace the guy who has the Texas District 26 Congressional Seat. We need to strike fear into the heart of Sen. Kaybar Hutchison, and make GOP Gov. Rick Perry’s pretty hair turn white and fall out.

Right now, from my past experience, I can see two sides that will have a complete falling out. The losing side will sit out the election, feeling very, very wronged and pious. As a result, McCain will win (note the smiling, nodding heads in the GOP peanut gallery).

Then, if the Democrats manage to hold on to a razor thin majority in Congress, they will be attacked by their own (many of whom will have sat out the election or gone off to a third party) for not doing enough when they don’t have the votes to do a damn thing.

There are more damn Democrats attacking Democrats right now than there are Democrats attacking Republicans! It’s a scorched earth policy that can lead to disaster. I don’t give a damn whose fault it is. Stop it!

Unless some things start to change pretty ding-dang soon, we will have the 1968 anti-war election all over again with one exception, a Republican congress.

Now, back to your wars.
