Democratic Women of Collin County shaking up a GOP stronghold

August 31st, 2008 · No Comments · 2008 Election, Democrats, Rick Noriega, Texas, U.S. House of Representatives

News from the Texas Democratic Women of Collin County (TDWCC)

Thursday night more than 400 Democrats in Collin County gathered to watch Senator Obama accept the Democratic nomination for President of the United States.  At the end of his speech we listened to him say:

“I stand before you tonight because all across America something is stirring. What the naysayers don’t understand is that this election has never been about me; it’s about you.  …  For 18 long months, you have stood up, one by one, and said, “Enough,” to the politics of the past.”

The large crowds of Democrats that gathered throughout the metroplex are proof that Senator Obama speaks the truth.  Democrats in North Texas have had enough and are working hard to bring about change.

Texas Democratic Women of Collin County (TDWCC) are actively involved in this movement.  We hope you will consider attending our 2nd Annual Dinner on September 28th at 6:30 p.m. at Southfork Ranch, not just because it will be a great Democratic event, but also because we need your financial support to continue to Get Out The Vote!

We have put your past generous contributions to good use and will do the same in the future.
Purchased 1,000 Obama yard signs and bumper stickers to provide FREE to Democrats.
Established a Get Out The Vote office – TDWCC volunteers have made calls to more than 14,000 voters!
Given donations totaling $6,750 to our endorsed candidates.

As excited as we are about Senator Obama’s nomination, let’s also remember the other excellent Democratic candidates who will be on Collin County ballots.  The candidates who have confirmed that they plan to attend the TDWCC dinner are:

Rick Noriega, candidate for U.S. Senate
Tom Daley & Glenn Melancon, candidates for US House
Jim Jordan, candidate for Texas Supreme Court Chief Justice
Don Chae, Candidate for 5th Court of Criminal Appeals Justice
Victor Manuel & Jean Power, candidates for Collin County Commissioner

For more information, please view the invitation below or attached.  More details can also be found and you can RSVP at http://www.tdwcc.org/2ndAnnualDinner.html

Note:  while the event is not until the end of September, we ask you to please consider RSVPing now.  We have an ambitious GOTV plan in place and can certainly make use of your generous donation now!
