Just yesterday, GOP FOPs went to the courthouse to stop the “Troopergate” ethics investigation she said she welcomed and also vowed her cooperation. Now, she has changed her mind. More likely the Bush campaign thugs hired by McCain decided for her. She is not going to cooperate, especially since her end run with her own investigation ran into a brick wall.

So, GOP FOPs, those folks who hate frivolous lawsuits and “activist” judges went to the courthouse to shut down a legislative investigation. Why am I not surprised. FOP Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX) can understand why people shoot “activist judges”, but apparently only those who rule against the GOP.

Sarah doesn’t want to cooperate and her FOPs don’t mind that one bit.

One of her FOPs – an Anchorage shock jock – called local anti-FOPs “maggots” and gave out their telephone numbers over the air, urging his listening FOPs to call. The result was twofold. Yes, it brought a torrent of obscene, ugly and threatening FOP calls to the women. It also galvanized support and anti-Palin forces outnumbered the FOPs at the rally by about 15 to one.

Other FOPs try to convince us that pointing out how it is sexist to point out how Palin lied when she entered the campaign, lied in her convention speech and continues her lying. Yep, FOPs think that saying Paling lied about the Bridge to Nowhere is sexist. FOPs say that attacking her record as mayor is sexist. FOPs say that pointing out Palin was on top of earmarks like a black fly on moose dung is sexist.

Mentioning that this “crusader for reform” embraced now indicted Alaska Republican Sen. Ted Stevens is sexist. Reminding the world, FOPs say, that Palin was was a director of a shady Ted Stevens committee to raise corporate funds is sexist. Showing the campaign ad where Stevens endorsed Palin (she is on the podium with him) is to strike a blow against womanhood, say the FOPs.

Once she said she had nothing to hide from the investigation into her own ethics problems. Now, she’s not so sure. Maybe she took a closer look from behind her designer glasses. FOPs will tell you the “you have nothing to fear if you are not guilty” argument they usually embrace does not apply here. The Sarah is immune from investigation, so say the FOPs.

FOPs say that calling Sarah Palin a liar is sexist. They don’t tell you they can’t defend her lies.

The most ludicrous FOP activity is invoking the name of Hillary Clinton. Once she was the cursed Hillary, now, for purely partisan and hypocritical reasons, she is embraced by the FOPs, as they try to sell Palin as the Hillary alternative. Heck, Palin isn’t even Hillary-lite, no matter what the FOPs say. Hillary has strongly resisted any of the FOPs embraces, hugs, kisses or butt slaps. In fact, despite the FOPs’ lies, Hillary is the light to Palin’s darkness.

Then, there is John McCain and his lies. First he has trouble deciding which side he is on (he recently resurrected his despised immigration bill). He now is against abortion and for bank regulation (as of this writing). He invents fantasy attacks by Obama on Palin. FOP’s pick up the call and charge forth. FOP’s don’t care that it’s untrue.

FOPs apparently share one thing with Sarah Palin – win at any cost.

Lying is one of those Ten Commandments which don’t apply to celebrities in the Assemblies of God.

Adultery, even two counts of it, do not matter to the evangelical FOPs. It doesn’t apply when it is a FOP-certified celebrity.

FOPs can be expected to continue their lies, smears and delusional defenses of the McCain-Bush/Palin-Stevens ticket.

It is up to reasoning people to put their sholder to the wheel and counter the lies of McCain, Palin and their lock-stepping FOPs.

ANCHORAGE — Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin is unlikely to meet with a special prosecutor looking into whether she or other state officials improperly pushed to punish a trooper, a spokesman for John McCain‘s presidential campaign announced Monday.

Sarah Palin is taking the wrong approach to Troopergate. She should be practicing the open and transparent, ethical and accountable government she promised when running for governor and boasts about now that she’s on the national stage.

“Instead, Gov. Palin has begun stonewalling the Legislature’s attempt to get the bottom of allegations that she, her family or staff violated ethical or state personnel rules. As a result, the Troopergate allegations hang over Palin’s future and cloud her candidacy for vice president.”

The Sarah’s end run around the process didn’t work, but that didn’t stop John McCain from picking her as his vice presidential candidate.
Since then, it’s been “Katy slam the door” in the face of investigators. McCain’s Bush campaign stooges say the investigation is politically charged, even though it was a Republican (who represents Wasilla) who cast the recent deciding vote to expedite the probe. It was not the first time Republicans voted in favor of the investigation.

One lawmaker complained earlier this month that state Sen. Hollis French, the Anchorage Democrat overseeing the investigation, appears to be steering the investigation “in a manner that will have maximum partisan political impact on the national and state elections.”French said last night: “The McCain campaign seems to have forgotten that this began with a unanimous vote by eight Republicans and four Democrats to begin an investigation.”

What does she have to hide? Isn’t that the mantra of the über right as they take away out rights? If you have nothing to hide you have no need to fear government investigators.
What is it that McCain and Palin are hiding . . . even more lies? Could it be even bigger lies?

By CHARLES BABINGTON – 2 hours ago

WASHINGTON (AP) — The “Straight Talk Express” has detoured into doublespeak.

Republican presidential nominee John McCain, a self-proclaimed tell-it-like-it-is maverick, keeps saying his running mate, Sarah Palin, killed the federally funded Bridge to Nowhere when, in fact, she pulled her support only after the project became a political embarrassment. He accuses Democrat Barack Obama of calling Palin a pig, which did not happen. He says Obama would raise nearly everyone’s taxes, when independent groups say 80 percent of families would get tax cuts instead.

Once, as the victim, he denounced these tactics. Now, he embraces them.

McCain’s persistence in pushing dubious claims is all the more notable because many political insiders consider him one of the greatest living victims of underhanded campaigning. Locked in a tight race with George W. Bush for the Republican presidential nomination in 2000, McCain was rocked in South Carolina by a whisper campaign claiming he had fathered an illegitimate black child and was mentally unstable.

Shaken by the experience, McCain denounced less-than-truthful campaigning. Vowing to live up to his “straight talk” motto, he apologized for his reluctance to criticize the flying of the Confederate flag at South Carolina’s state Capitol in a bid for votes. When the so-called Swift Boat Veterans for Truth attacked the military record of Democrat and fellow Navy officer John Kerry in 2004, McCain called the ads “dishonest and dishonorable.”

Now, top aides to McCain include Steve Schmidt, who has close ties to Karl Rove, Bush’s premier political adviser in 2000.

Source: ap.google.com

Even when confronted with the truth, the campaign continues to lie.

Politicians usually modify or drop claims when a string of newspaper and TV news accounts concludes they are untrue or greatly exaggerated. Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, for example, conceded she had not come under sniper fire in Bosnia after a batch of debunking articles subjected her to scorn during her primary contest against Obama.

But McCain and his running mate Palin, the Alaska governor, were defiant this week in the face of similar reports. Day after day she said she had told Congress “no thanks” to the so-called Bridge to Nowhere, a rural Alaska project that was abandoned when critics challenged its costs and usefulness. For nearly a week, major news outlets had documented that Palin supported the bridge when running for governor in 2006, noting that she turned against it only after it became an object of ridicule in Alaska and a symbol of Congress’s out-of-control earmarking.

The McCain-Palin campaign made at least three other aggressive claims this week that omitted key details or made dubious assumptions to criticize Obama. It equated lawmakers’ requests for money for special projects with corruption, even though Palin has sought nearly $200 million in such “earmarks” this year.

It produced an Internet ad implying that Obama had called Palin a pig when he used a familiar phrase, which McCain also has used, about putting “lipstick on a pig” to try to make a bad situation look better. McCain supporters said Obama was slyly alluding to Palin’s description of herself as a pit bull in lipstick, but there was nothing in his remarks to support the claim. Obama accused the GOP campaign of “lies and phony outrage.”

The lipstick wars were fully engaged when the McCain campaign produced another ad saying Obama favored “comprehensive sex education” for kindergartners. The charge triggered the sort of headlines becoming increasingly common in major newspapers and wire services monitoring the factual content of political ads and speeches.

“Ad on Sex Education Distorts Obama Policy,” was the headline on a New York Times article Thursday. “McCain’s ‘Education’ Spot is Dishonest, Deceptive,” The Washington Post’s “Fact Checker” article said.

Obama’s campaign has not been blameless.

Obama, of course, has made exaggerated or questionable assertions as well. Earlier this year, for instance, he repeated a claim that more black men are in prison than in college, after news accounts refuted it. He also used a McCain remark about having troops in Iraq for “100 years” to exaggerate McCain’s proposals for being fully engaged militarily in that country.

In general, however, Obama has been quicker to react to news accounts challenging his accuracy. Faced with skeptical reports this year, for instance, he stopped saying he “worked his way” through college, and instead credited hard work and scholarships.
